Traffic on Cox’s Bazar-Ctg highway back to normal

By Staff Correspondent

Traffic movement on the Chattogram-Cox's Bazar highway returned to normal after two days last morning as flood water receded from the highway.

"The water started receding yesterday [Wednesday]. Some vehicles started plying the road last [Wednesday] night. There is no water on the road today [Thursday] and vehicular movement returned to normal this [Thursday] morning," Khan Md Irfan, officer-in-charge of Dohazari Highway Police Station.

However, vehicular movement was slow at different points as potholes developed due to the rain and submersion, he said.

Meanwhile, Chattogram-Cox's Bazar road link remains cut off due to flooding.

Saiful Islam, member secretary of Cox's Bazar Bus Counter Owner-Manager Association, said several buses left Cox's Bazar for Dhaka and Chattogram in the morning.

Incessant rain and overflowing rivers submerged vast areas of Chattogram division and shut down communication between Cox's Bazar and Bandarban, and Cox's Bazar and Chattogram.
