MA Mannan, the first mayor of Gazipur City Corporation and a BNP vice-chairman, died at a city hospital yesterday. He was 72.

Dhaka University’s fisheries department was established in 1998. However, there was not enough space to hold classes with all the students. Classes used to be held at other departments till the department’s founding chair Prof Mohammad Shafi took an initiative, solely on his own.
