Woman files rape case against neighbour in Mymensingh

A housewife in Trishal upazila of Mymensingh has filed a case accusing her neighbour of raping her.

The case was lodged on Monday night with Trishal Police Station, naming Akmol Hossain as the lone accused. Police said Akmol has gone into hiding since the incident.

According to the case statement, the 25-year-old woman went out of her house around 5:00am on October 18 to fetch water from a tube well in her yard. At that time, Akmol allegedly forcibly took her into a nearby field and raped her.

Hearing her screams, the woman's husband and neighbours rushed to the spot, but the accused managed to flee, said Monsur Ahammed, officer-in-charge (OC) of Trishal Police Station.

The woman was sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital today for a medical examination. The OC said police are conducting drives to arrest the accused.
