Two cousins drown in Munshiganj pond

Two cousins drowned in a pond in Sreenagar upazila of Munshiganj yesterday morning.

The deceased were Raiyan Molla, 5, son of Mohiuddin Molla, and his cousin Ibrahim Molla, 6, son of Mohsin Molla, of Kathalbari village in the upazila.

The incident occurred around 10:00am in Bagra union.

Quoting family members, Additional Superintendent of Police (Sreenagar Circle) Md Anisur Rahman said the children went to bathe in a nearby pond without informing their families. When they did not return, their families began searching for them.

They were later found in the pond and taken to a hospital, where doctors declared them dead on arrival.
