Lower-graded government employees have demanded the implementation of the new pay scale from January.

The Bangladesh Government Employees Coordination Council submitted memorandums to the chief adviser and the finance adviser in this regard today.

The government formed the Ninth Pay Commission last July, with former finance secretary Zakir Ahmed Khan serving as its head.

According to a press release issued by the organisation on Wednesday, a programme will be held on December 6 to press home their demand.

The organisation also said that if the new pay scale is not implemented by January, they will announce a long march towards the Secretariat.
