Low pressure at Bay: Waterway communication with Hatiya island snapped

The low-lying areas of some unions, including Nijhum Dwip union of Hatiya Island of Noakhali, are likely to be inundated due to the intensity of rain and tide under the influence of a low-pressure in the Bay of Bengal.

Due to adverse weather conditions, naval communication with Hatiya has been suspended since this afternoon (October 23, 2022), reports our Noakhali correspondent quoting Hatiya Upazila Nirbahi Officer Selim Mia.

The local administration has issued warning Signal No 3 due to squally weather.

As a result, thousands of passengers have been stranded in Hatiya and at different areas of Noakhali.
