Domestic help found dead at expat’s house in Lalmonirhat

Police have recovered the body of a house help from an expatriate's house at Kakina village in Kaliganj upazila of Lalmonirhat today.

The deceased was identified as Shahinur Begum, daughter of Abdul Gafur of Radhapal village under Madhupur upazila in Tangail.

An unnatural death case has been registered at Kaliganj Police Station in this connection.

The house owner Economist Dr Mozammel Haque has been teaching at a university in Scotland. He is the founder of Kakina Uttar Bangla College, and also the chairman of Charity International, a Glasgow-based international organisation in Scotland.

Currently, he has been living in his house in Kakina village.

Police and locals said the woman was working as a house help in the man's house for the last 20 years. After work, she fell asleep in her room last night.

When she did not respond in the morning today, other domestic workers broke the window and saw her body lying on the ground and then informed the police, locals said.

Kaliganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Golam Rasul said the body was sent to Lalmonirhat Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.

After autopsy, the actual cause of the death would be known, he said.
