Nearly 92,500 members of the army and navy will be deployed across Bangladesh during the upcoming national election to ensure security alongside other law-enforcing agencies, the Chief Adviser's Office has said.

Chief Adviser's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam shared the information today at a press briefing at the Foreign Service Academy after a meeting on election preparations, with the polls expected to be held in February.

He said around 90,000 army personnel will be deployed this time, with at least one company stationed in each upazila.

"In previous elections, the number of army personnel was between 50,000 and 60,000," he added.

Training programmes are also being arranged for Ansar members, a large number of whom will be on election duty, the press secretary said.

He added that discussions were held on procuring body-worn cameras and training officers in their use to ensure transparency during the polls.

The meeting, chaired by Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus at the state guesthouse Jamuna, focused on four key issues -- posting, training, security, and monitoring disinformation on social media.
