Selina Hayat Ivy’s personal charisma as well as development activities carried out in Narayanganj city during her two successive tenures in the post of mayor are the key reasons behind her victory in Sunday’s polls.

Narayanganj City Corporation’s mayor-elect Selina Hayat Ivy met rival candidate Taimur Alam Khandakar with sweets at his house today, a day after she won the election for the third time in a row.

People’s lack of experience with Electronic Voting Machines and the mismatching of fingerprints slowed down voting in several polling centres yesterday during the much-talked-about Narayanganj city corporation election.

Selina Hayat Ivy was on course to win a straight third term as the Narayanganj mayor as she was ahead of her rival by 42,054 votes in yesterday’s city corporation polls, which was largely festive and peaceful.
