Sarjis files cyberbullying case against admins of two Facebook pages
Sarjis Alam, one of the key coordinators of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, has filed a case against the admins of two Facebook pages for cyberbullying.
He filed the case with Shahbagh Police Station today under the Cyber Security Act, Khalid Mansur, officer-in-charge of the police station, told The Daily Star.
"The case was filed due to defamatory comments made about Sarjis on Facebook. The CTTC will investigate the case," he said.
Sarjis, also the chief organiser of Jatiya Nagorik Committee, has provided links to the Facebook pages and some images.
In the First Information Report (FIR), Sarjis mentioned that at 11:20am on Wednesday, he logged into Facebook and noticed fabricated information about him being spread from two pages named Department of Bakshal, University of Dhaka and Criminals DU.
A post was uploaded featuring edited screenshots of chats allegedly from an unused WhatsApp account of his, along with false and defamatory allegations against him.
Sarjis further said that these two pages have been posting highly defamatory and misleading information, edited screenshots, and images targeting him.
Such baseless and vulgar propaganda has socially humiliated him and subjected him to defamation, Sarjis stated.
