Robbers looted valuables from a community clinic in Sreepur upazila of Gazipur early today after breaking through its locks.

The incident occurred at the Maona Dakshin Para Community Clinic during the early hours.

Sharifa Akhter Smriti, a community healthcare provider (CHP) at the clinic, said the stolen items included two solar batteries, an internet router, small medical devices, a weighing machine, a blood pressure monitor, and some cash.

Sharifa said she left the clinic around 2:30pm yesterday after locking two rooms and the main gate. At around 5:20am today, locals informed her that the clinic's gate was open. Upon arriving, she found that three locks had been broken and several items were missing. Other belongings were left scattered inside.

Sreepur Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer, Shafiqul Islam, confirmed the theft and expressed frustration, "We are fed up with these repeated incidents. A complaint is being filed with the police."

He also highlighted the lack of security, noting that no community clinics in the upazila have guards, and even patients and staff at the upazila health complex face safety concerns at night.

"We urgently need a remedy," he added.
