Communal attack in Cumilla: 17 placed on 5-day remand in vandalism case
A Cumilla court today placed 17 people on five-day remand, in a case filed over vandalism in a Cumilla temple.
Judge Chandan Kanti Sen of Cumilla Chief Judicial Magistrate Court-1 passed the order after a hearing today, our local correspondent reports quoting Court Inspector Salahuddin Al Mahmoud.
Eighteen of the accused were produced before the court today, he said.
For questioning over the incident, police had requested a seven-day remand for each of the arrestees.
However, the court granted five-day remand of 17 people, and one was sent to juvenile court as he was under 18.
Earlier, law enforcers arrested 18 people for their alleged involvement in the attack on the Thakurpara Temple.
