2nd tribunal to be formed to try rights violations

Says Tajul; victims of enforced disappearance seek justice

Chief Prosecutor of International Crimes Tribunal Mohammad Tajul Islam yesterday said a second tribunal will soon be formed to try the atrocities committed during the July uprising and the last 15 years of human rights violations.

"Everyone is saying to increase the number of tribunals. We also think it is difficult for a single tribunal to cover the entire scale of the atrocities. We are working to form another tribunal. It will soon be established," he said while speaking at a discussion.

He said the prosecution team would also be expanded to meet the growing workload.

The discussion was organised by the platform Voice of Enforced Disappeared Persons (VOED) at Jatiya Press Club.
