10 poachers arrested with 160 kg venison from Sundarbans

Ten poachers were arrested with 160 kg of venison from the Bhodra area of the Sundarbans of Khulna today.

Kolabogi Forest officials along with Kamal Pasha, officer-in-charge of Bhodra Police Outpost raided the west bank of Pashur River and arrested them.

"The arrestees obtained permission for fishing in the Sundarbans but they hunted deer and tried to flee the forest," said AZM Hasanur Rahman, assistant conservator of Forest under Khulna Forest Division (west).

"Apart from seizing venison, equipment used to trap deer were also seized from them," said the forest official adding a case was filed in this regard.
