DAE, Solidaridad Network Asia sign MoU to enhance agro production
The Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) and Solidaridad Network Asia signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) today to enhance sustainable and climate-resilient smallholder vegetable production and supply systems.
Through this agreement, DAE and Solidaridad, an international networking organisation, will work jointly to implement the "Smart Farming, Healthy Food" project taken under the SDG Partnership Initiative of the Netherlands Enterprise Agency.
Efficient and effective need-based extension services will be promoted in the Barishal and Chattogram divisions to promote an eco-friendly, safe, climate-resilient production system as well as the adoption of global sustainability standards to improve productivity and quality.
Addressing the deal signing programme, DAE Director General Md Asadullah appreciated the collaborative initiative to foster agricultural productivity and market development and assured that they will extend its support to the project.
Selim Reza Hasan, country manager of Solidaridad Network Asia in Bangladesh, said the project is designed to demonstrate a scalable model to transform the vegetable production and market system to supply safe vegetables to local, national and possibly to the export market.
