Two killed in road accidents

At least two people were killed in road accidents in Dinajpur and Faridpur yesterday, report our correspondents.

In Dinajpur, a 5-year-old boy was killed in a road accident in Ghoraghat upazila around 11:30am.

The deceased is Sifat Rahman, son of Rana Rahman of Panchpir village under the upazila.

Quoting locals, police said Sifat was walking home in the morning. While crossing the Azadmor intersection in the upazila, a brick-laden tractor hit him, leaving him critically injured. He died on his way to Ghoraghat upazila Health Complex.

Police seized the vehicle but the driver fled away, said OC Abu Hasan Kabir of Ghorahgat Police Station.

In Faridpur, a rickshaw-van puller was killed after a truck hit his van in Sahorali area of Boalmari upazila. The deceased is Zahan Sheikh, 50.

Quoting locals, OC Abdul Ohab of Boalmari Police Station, said the accident took place when Zahan was going to a local brick kiln to drop off some logs. On the way, a truck hit his rickshaw-van. He died on the spot.
