Two killed, 4 hurt in road accidents

Two people were killed and four injured in road accidents in two districts yesterday, according to reports from our correspondents.

In Jamalpur, a man was killed and four others were injured in a head-on collision between a sand-laden vehicle locally known as "trolley" and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Motherganj upazila.

The accident took place around 2:00pm on ​​Jamalpur-Motherganj regional highway in Bhelamari area, said police.

Police said the trolley driver lost his control over the vehicle that led to the accident.

All the victims were on the auto-rickshaw.

The identity of the deceased -- aged around 30 -- could not be known immediately.

Locals took the injured -- Razia Sultana, 40, Bhaiba, 6, CNG-run auto-rickshaw driver Kalam, 45, and Hasan Master, 50 -- to Jamalpur General Hospital, said Mahbubul Haque, officer-in-charge of Motherganj Police Station.

They were later transferred to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, said the OC.

Police seized both the vehicles.

In Rangpur, a cyclist was killed after a truck hit him in Gangachara upazila, said police.

Habu Munshi, 55, a farmer from Majhapara village in Gangachara, died on the spot.

The accident happened near Soyabari Bridge while Habu was returning home from Tulshirhat village.
