Traffic cop dies in road accident

A traffic police constable died after a truck hit him in Dhaka's Uttara area early yesterday.

The deceased Kazi Masud (38) was posted in DMP's Uttara Traffic Division. A speeding truck hit the police personnel as he was crossing the road near Tongi Bridge area around 3:00am, leaving him critically injured.

He was rushed to a nearby hospital where a doctor declared him dead, said sub-inspector Monirul Islam of Uttara West Police Station.

The body was sent to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College morgue for autopsy. Hailing from Bagerhat, he joined Bangladesh Police in 2004.
