Three killed as part of rice mill hopper collapses

Three workers were killed after a shed of a hopper (carrying section) of a rice mill collapsed at Tangail's Gopalpur upazila on Sunday night.

The accident took place at around 9:30pm at Ekota Rice Mills at Dubail area in the upazila.

The deceased are Mohammad Arif (27), Nurul Islam (35) and Naimul Islam (30).

Rafiqul Islam, station officer of Gopalpur Fire Service, said, "We've examined that the setting of the hopper was of low quality. The welding of the angles was weak. The workers were killed due to negligence of the mill authorities."
