Road crashes kill 3 in Jhenaidah

Three people were killed in separate road accidents in Kaliganj and Shailakupa upazilas of Jhenaidah today.

The victims are Shakil Hossain, 20 and his friend Rakib Biswas, 21, of Shatbaria village under Jhenaidah's Kaliganj upazila and Tushar Hossain, 38, reports our local correspondent.

Shakil and Rakib were employees of a pharmacy in Jhenidah town, said Md Sohel Rana, officer-in-charge of Jhenaidah Sadar Police Station.

OC Sohel said they were going to Jhenaidah town riding on a motorbike this morning.

When they reached Kayergachi bus stand on Jashore-Jhenidah road in Kaliganj upazila around 9:00am, a speeding truck hit them from the opposite direction, leaving them dead on the spot.

In another accident, Tusher died on the spot after a bus rammed into his motorcycle at Kabirpur bus stand on Shailakupa-Jhenaidah road in Shailakupa upazila around 9:30am.

The bodies were recovered and sent to Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsies, the police official added.
