Fire may have originated from container: Director of Ctg's BM Depot

The fire and following explosions at BM Container Depot in Chattogram has so far claimed the lives of 16 people and many fear the death toll will increase further.

Mujibur Rahman, director of BM Container Depot, said it is still not clear how the fire originated. "But I think the fire started from container," he said.

He also said they would cover the treatment cost of those injured. "Efforts are on to make sure those injured get the best treatment. We will cover all costs of their treatment and will also give due compensation for casualties in the incident and also take responsibility of the families."

The fire broke out at BM Container Limited in Shitalpur area around 10 pm last night (June 4), said a duty officer of Chattogram Fire Service and Civil Defence control room at Agrabad.
