Couple killed in Jhalakathi AC explosion

A couple died and three other family members suffered injuries when an air-conditioner exploded at a house in Rajapur upazila of Jhalakathi district early today.

The deceased were identified as Forkan Hawladar (45) and his wife Mahinur Begum (40).

The explosion occurred at Chander Bari, leaving the couple and three others – Mainul (14), Sara (3) and Mahfuza Begum (30) injured, said Shyamal Dey, officer-in-charge of Rajapur Police Station.

They were taken to a local hospital where doctors declared the couple dead, the OC said.
