BR staff dies after train runs him over

An employee of the Bangladesh Railway was killed after an intercity train ran him over in Hakimpur upazila of Dinajpur yesterday.

Nayan Babu, 33, was an assistant ticket booking manager of Hili Railway Station and a resident of Gobindapur village, said Rafiqul Islam, a sub-inspector of Hili railway police outpost.

Nayan was walking on the rail tracks after work and did not notice the Khulna-bound intercity train Rupsa Express approaching, which ran him over at the Dangapara area around 11:30am.

Police recovered his body and handed it over to his family members.

On Saturday, a woman, Morjina Begum, 60, and her 7-year-old granddaughter were killed after an intercity train, Drutajan Express, ran them over on the rail bridge on the Tilai river in Parbatipur upazila.
