Bangladesh Bank’s ex-DGM crushed under train in Dhaka

A former high official of Bangladesh Bank died after coming under a train this morning.

The deceased Fakhrul Islam (59) was a retired deputy general manager of Bangladesh Bank, confirmed Md Riyaz Mahmud, sub-inspector (SI) of Dhaka Railway Police Station.

The accident took place at Khilgaon Rail Gate around 8:30am.

Fakhrul was walking on the rail line when the Kamalapur-bound "Sundarban Express" train crushed him. He died on the spot, the SI said.

His body was sent to Dhaka Medical College morgue for autopsy.

Fakhrul hailed from Melandoho upazila of Jamalpur. He was living with his family at Wari area of Dhaka. He retired as Bangladesh Bank's DGM, the police official added.
