3 fishermen die in Netrakona

The bodies of three fishermen were recovered by police and locals in Netrakona yesterday.

The dead were identified as Diluar Fakir, 36, son Fatik Fakir of Aatpara upazila's Koilong village, Rafiqul Islam, 35, son of Sawdagor of Madan upazila's Maghan Nayapara village, and Rasel Mia, 30, son of Fazlu Mia of Mohanganj's Banihari village.

According to locals, the victims drowned after they went fishing, despite rough weather, in a haor around 10:00pm on Friday.

Anjana Khan Majlis, deputy commissioner of Netrakona, said the bodies were handed over to their families yesterday afternoon.
