A motorcycle belonging to an assistant sub-inspector was stolen from inside Vatara police station in Dhaka early today.

The theft took place around 4:30am and was captured on the station’s CCTV cameras.

ASI Firoz had locked his personal Yamaha FZS Version-2 motorcycle inside the police station before going outside on duty, said Imaul Haque, officer-in-charge of the police station.

CCTV footage shows two masked men loitering near the police station gate for some time. At one point, one of them entered the station premises and broke the lock of the motorcycle, while the other stood guard outside, he said.

The two then pushed the motorcycle out of the station area and fled quickly, the OC said, citing the CCTV footage.

ASI Md Firoz said the motorcycle had a GPS tracker, but the device was removed by the thieves.

Police said efforts are underway to identify and arrest those involved in the theft, the OC added.
