2 RMG workers killed as pick-up van hits motorcycle in Chattogram EPZ

Two ready-made garment workers were killed this morning when a speeding pick-up van hit their motorcycle in the Export Processing Zone (EPZ) area of Chattogram city.

The deceased were identified as Tamanna, from Morelganj upazila of Bagerhat, and Md Khalil, a resident of Free Port New Mooring area under EPZ Police Station.

Tamanna lived in Wasim Chowdhury Para of Kalsir Dighir Par in Chattogram, police said.

According to police and local sources, the two were travelling on a motorcycle when the speeding pick-up van struck them around 9:00am on road no 5 in the EPZ area, leaving them critically injured.

The victims were then taken to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH).

“Pedestrians brought the two seriously injured motorcycle riders to the hospital after they were hit by a pick-up van in the morning. The duty doctors pronounced them dead,” said Inspector Nurul Alam, in-charge of the CMCH police outpost.

The bodies have been kept at the CMCH morgue for autopsies, he added.
