<i>Hybrid Power</i>

A picture shows a hybrid solarized gas turbine power station which was launched in the Israeli Kibbutz of Samar, in the Negev Desert, 30 kms north of the Red Sea city of Eilat on June 24. The power plant is the world's first of its kind, according to the company that built it. The unit can produce up to 100 KW, by ultra high temperature concentrating solar power technology. A group of mirrors reflect the sun beams on a "sun tower", heating air in the tower up to 1,100 degrees Celsius, which turns a micro turbine. Photo: AFP
