Youth Murder in Thakurgaon
JCD leader, 10 others sued
Eleven people, including three activists of district unit Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), were sued yesterday on charge of killing a youth.
Among the accused are Masudul Islam alias Munna, 28, organising secretary of JCD unit, his younger brother Emran Alam Siddiqi alias Dipu, 28, Md Selim, former treasurer of the unit, Md Sohel, 30, an activist, of the town.
Kohinur Begum, mother of deceased Rafiqul Islam, 26, of Gowalpara in the town filed the case with Sadar police station.
Police said, a gang led by Munna on Monday night forcibly took Rafiqul to a room of Kalibari Shamyo Krira O Shangskritik Goshthi from Thakurgaon Judge Court compound over a previous enmity. In the club's room, Munna, his brother Dipu and some other youths stabbed Rafiqul indiscriminately, leaving him critically injured.
Later, local people brought Rafiqul to Thakurgaon Sadar Hospital. He was referred to Rangpur Medical College and Hospital but succumbed to his injuries at Birganj upazila of Dinajpur on the way to Rangpur.
Police were raiding different areas to arrest the accused, said superintendent of police Md Foysal Mahmud.
