Murder in Matiranga
A young man was hacked to death allegedly by his elder brother's wife following an altercation over traditional jhum cultivation on a hill at Khelakumarpara in Matiranga upazila on Tuesday night.
The deceased was identified as Gopal Mohon Tripura, 32, of the village.
Police said, Gopal and his elder brother Udes Kumar Tripura's wife Mati Bala Tripura locked in a brawl over the issue of cultivating crops on a hill at about 10.00pm.
At one stage, Mati Bala hacked Gopal with a sharp weapon, leaving him dead on the spot.
Local people caught Mati Bala and Udes and handed them over to police.
