Youth stabbed to death by JCD leader
A youth was stabbed to death yesterday allegedly by district unit organising secretary of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) and his accomplices.
The victim was identified as Rafiqul Islam, 26, son of Abdur Rahman of Gowalpara in the municipality area.
Police and witnesses said, at around 1:30pm, a gang led by Masudul Islam alias Munna forcibly took Rafique to a room of Kalibari Shamyo Krira O Shangskritik Goshthi from Thakurgaon Judge Court compound over a previous enmity. In the club's room, Munna, his younger brother Dipu and some other youths stabbed Rafique indiscriminately, leaving him critically injured.
Later local people brought Rafique to Thakurgaon Sadar Hospital. He was referred to Rangpur Medical College Hospital but succumbed to his injuries at Birganj upazila of Dinajpur on the way to Rangpur.
Officer in-charge of Thakurgaon police station Md. Rezaul Karim told this correspondent over cell phone that in primary investigation they came to know that Munna, Dipu and some others of their gang were involved in the killing.
