Abducted PCJSS men yet to be rescued
None of the leaders and activists of Partbatya Chattagram Jana Sanghati Samity (PCJSS), abducted from Jotetila in Kattholi under Longudu upazila on Saturday, was rescued by law enforcers or released by the abductors as of 6:00pm yesterday.
After the incident, PCJSS leaders blamed the United People's Democratic Front (UPDF) for the abduction. They also claimed that the number of victims is 70.
Moni Shankar Chakma, secretary of Longudu upazila unit of PCJSS, Josho Chakma, secretary of Jubo Samity, and its organising secretary Milon Chakma are among the kidnapped men, said Longudu police.
Longudu police said leaders from both PCJSS and UPDF were holding a dialogue over release of the abducted PCJSS men at a secret place in Naniachar upazila.
“I have come to know that a dialogue is going on between the leaders of PCJSS and UPDF at someplace in Naniachar upazila,†said Md Rezaul Haque, officer in-charge (OC) of Longudu Police Station.
Around 40 UPDF men blocked an engine boat in Jotetila area of Longudu at around 10:30am and abducted the PCJSS men at gun point.
The PCJSS leaders and activists were returning home from Rangamati town after attending the party's 41st founding anniversary programme.
Protesting the incident, the PCJSS brought out a procession in the town on Saturday afternoon and held a protest rally in front of the new court building.
