60 jailed in India return
Sixty Bangladeshis returned home from India through the Benapole check post yesterday after serving five years in an Indian jail.
Benapole immigration OC Kamruzaman said that human traffickers sent them to India promising good jobs in Pakistan five years ago through Jessore border.
Later, they were arrested in India by police.
A case was filed against them and the Indian court sentenced them to five years imprisonment for crossing the border without valid documents.
All the returnees hailed from Cox's Bazar district.
Meanwhile, BGB members held 13 people from Sadipur bordering area while they were going to India illegally yesterday.
Of the arrestees, six are men, six women and one child. They hailed from different areas of Narail and Barisal districts.
Benapole BGB camp sources said, a team of BGB raided the area and caught them in the morning.
However, the traffickers fled the scene sensing presence of the border guards.
