10 arms, 55 bullets seized
Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) seized 10 firearms, 55 bullets and arrested an alleged firearms peddler from Sahedbnagar village in Gangni upazila of Meherpur district yesterday.
Golam Rabbani, camp commander of Rab-6, Meherpur told this correspondent that on information that a gang would gather at Sahebnagar Eidgah at the village for selling and buying firearms.
The Rab team raided the spot at about 6:30pm and arrested one Phul Chand and recovered the firearms and bullets from his possession.
Of the firearms, six were 9mm pistols and four pipe guns.
Hailing from Hosanbad village in Daulatpur upazila of Kushtia Phul Chand, 32, son of Zeker Mondol, is an illegal arms trader, Rab officials said.
They said that the firearms were brand new and might have been brought from a neighbouring country through border.
