128 Jamaat-Shibir men sued in Nachole

Police filed two separate cases against 128 Jamaat-Shibir men, including the amir and general secretary of Nachole upazila unit, with Nachole Police Station on Saturday night on charge of attacking police men at the upazila headquarters in the afternoon. Yahiya Khaled, amir of Jamaat Nachole upazila unit, and Yakub Aliits general secretary of the unit, are among the accused. Jamaat-Shibir men brought out a procession from in front of Begum Mohsin Madarsa in Nachole Bazar area in the afternoon. As police intercepted the Jamat-Shibir men, they swooped on the law enforcers with sticks and hurled brick chips. Police fired tear shells and rubber bullets and charged baton on the processionists to disperse them. At least 16 people, including Firoz Ahmed, officer-in-charge (OC) of Nachole Police Station, Sayed Iqbal, officer-in-charge (investigation) of the police station, sub-inspectors Abdul Momin and Saiful Islam, and constables Mamunur Rashid and Helal sustained injuries during the attack.
