Abducted youth rescued
Police rescued an abducted youth from Jhumjhumpur area of Jessore district town on Saturday night and arrested three people in this connection.
The arrestees are Badshah Mia, son of Hatem Ali, Mehedi Hasan, son of Abul Hossain, Humayun Kabir, son of Ektar Ali, of Baliadanga area of the town, reports UNB.
Police said criminals kidnapped Nasim Reza, 27, son of Akram Hossain, from Raipur intersection in Bagharpara upazila on Friday night and demanded Tk one lakh as ransom from family members.
On secret information, the law enforcers raided the area at night and arrested the trio.
Following their confessional statement, police rescued Nasim. A case was filed in this connection.
In Jhenidah, a newborn baby, stolen from a private clinic in Kaliganj upazila town on Friday afternoon, was rescued from Moheshpur Jugihuda village in the upazila on Saturday night.
Police also arrested three people in this connection, reports our correspondent.
The arrestees were identified as Majeda Khatun, wife of Sazzad Hossain of the village and Ashadul Islam, owner of a clinic.
Saydee Kamruzzaman, officer in-charge of Kaliganj Police Station, said Khama Biswas, wife of Bipul Kumar Biswas of Baliadanga village, gave birth to a male child at Kaliganj Doctor's Clinic on Friday morning.
Criminals took away the newborn at around 4:00pm when Khama went to toilet, he added.
