Court accepts review petition, hearing on October 3
The District and Sessions Judge's Court here yesterday accepted the review petition of the family of slain Narsingdi mayor Lokman Hossain and fixed October 3 for the hearing.
Dr Mohammad Shahjahan, judge of the court, also summoned records from the lower court.
Lokman's brother Kamruzzaman, plaintiff of the case, on August 28 submitted the review petition with the District and Sessions Judge's Court after the no-confidence petition of the family was rejected by Chief Judicial Magistrate Nitai Chandra Saha on July 25.
The review petition said Investigation Officer of the case Mamunur Rashid Mondal, inspector of Detective Branch of police, submitted a fictitious charge sheet on June 24 this year excluding the name of prime accused Salauddin Ahmed Bachchu, younger brother of Posts and Telecommuni-cations Minister Rajiuddin Ahmed Raju, his Assistant Personal Secretary Murad, BNP leader Tareq and Nurul Islam.
Lokman, recipient of two times gold medallist as the best mayor, and general secretary of Narsingdi city Awami League, was shot dead at the party office in the town on November 1 last year.
