Boy abducted for ransom rescued after five days
Police rescued a madrasa student from Rampal village in Pirgachha upazila on Monday evening, five days after his abduction.
They also arrested an alleged kidnapper from the area.
Bahadur, 9, son of Abul Kalam, an Abu Dhabi expatriate of Gobindapur village in Sadar upazila of Laxmipur district, is a class one student at Hemayetulla Madrasa.
Police and family sources said on August 23, a gang led allegedly by one Mintu Mia, 18, picked up Bahadur from Gobindapur and took him to Rampal.
The gang also demanded Tk 3 lakh as ransom from the family members.
Later, the victim's mother Fatema Begum filed a case with Laxmipur police station, accusing four people, including Mintu, said Liton Dewan, officer in-charge of the PS.
On a tip-off, a joint team of Laxmipur and Pirgachha police raided the house of one Nurul Islam and rescued the boy.
They also arrested the alleged gang leader, Mintu, while the rest managed to flee, the scene, said the OC.
