BCL activists beat up cop in Chuadanga

A group of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activists beat up a constable at Alamdanga police station on Sunday night. Witnesses said, an arbitration was arranged over the divorce settlement of a housewife of Nagdah village at the police station on Sunday night. The two sides locked in an altercation at about 8:30pm. At one stage, a group of 5/6 BCL men, led by general secretary of Alamdanga College unit of the ruling party's student wing, swooped on constable Asaduzzaman Asad and beat him up mercilessly. Confirming the incident, officer in-charge of Alamdanga police station Lutful Kabir said the unexpected incident happened because of a misunderstanding, as the cop was not in uniform.
