Here are some comments that came in response to Tuesday's The Daily Star news report headlined “WB failed to give graft evidence” Rani
Why is the government not revealing the letter which was received from WB? Habibul Alam
World Bank's allegation has no substance. Nh
PM should have been properly advised by the advisers prior to the interview. Mahfuj
Honourable PM, if you think that graft evidence of WB is baseless, then why did you sack Abul Hossain? Amdem, USA
The World Bank did not fail to give evidence of corruption. Those are mentioned in the reports and letters which Sheikh Hasina is refusing to publish. WB has legal difficulty in publishing the reports and letters, but Bangladesh government can publish them. We want to see them. Manzoor Ashraf
The finance minister said that the government would publish all the correspondence from WB. So when will the government publish it? Translucent
BBC's Hard Talk interview in London does clarify lots of mysteries surrounding the WB on Padma Bridge Project. Demand Justice
World Bank could not give evidence because the evidence is concealed by legal bureaucracy, not because of the absence of it. WB must be applauded for surrendering their interest in exposing this corruption. The level of corruption in South Asia is extremely high, mainly because the political system has mastered the art of concealing graft. A Choudhury
Very realistic comment by the PM and I think she deserves compliments. It is expected that she would be re-elected because some of her promises are bearing fruits, such as great achievement in education, food production and above all her belief in treating people with secular views. Wish her long life. Hafeejul Alam
The PM is right when she says that micro-credit with 40% and above interest rate never changed the fate of the poor people of Bangladesh. Emerging economies like Malaysia, India, South Korea and so on have not developed with micro-credit, but with rapid industrialisation and infrastructure development. Upfront
The BBC can arrange a similar interview with the WB and get answer of some of the questions raised by the prime minister of Bangladesh such as: 1) How the case of corruption will be proved in the court of law in Bangladesh without any supporting proof of allegation the WB is supposed to provide. 2) Why transparency requirement would not be applied in case of the WB to follow a single policy of transparency requirement for good governance and management. 3) Why Abul resigned. Roni Rahman
How ridiculous the PM appears with her self-contradictory and immature attitude! She failed to explain why the government forced Abul to resign.
