13 Khulna JCD men get bail
A court here yesterday granted bail to 13 Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) leaders in a case filed on charge of attacking and torching police vehicles at Tootpara Central Road on April 22.
Earlier, they got two months' interim bail from the High Court (HC) in the same case till June 24, court sources said.
Meanwhile, three JCD men, including much-talked about Titu and Munna, were also freed on bail after spending two months in jail.
Then OC of Khulna Kotwali police station, SM Quamruzzaman, allegedly tied up both from the ceiling and beat them up mercilessly at the police station. They were caught from the spot on the day.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md Zakaria Hossain passed the order yesterday when the 13 JCD men surrendered before his court.
On April 22, a clash erupted between police and JCD men at Tootpara Central Road during hartal hours when the pickets intercepted different vehicles on the road.
The hartal supporters pelted bricks on policemen, hurled petrol bomb on police pick-up van and torched one.
Police charged baton on the protesters to bring the situation under control. They also arrested three including JCD leaders Titu and Munna from the spot.
A case was filed against 17 JCD men with Kotwali police station this regard. However, police, as well as BNP men, could not identify one of the 17 accused.
