Robbers kill couple
Robbers looted cash and valuables from a house after killing house owner and his wife at Kaizkuri village in Bhederganj upazila early yesterday.
The deceased were identified as Abdul Hakim Mridha, 85, and his wife Hazera Begum, 70, of the village.
Police said a gang of robbers stormed into the house of Abdul Hakim at about 2am and stabbed him indiscriminately as he raised hue and cry for help, leaving him dead on the spot.
The robbers also strangled Hazera Khatun as she tried to save her husband.
Later, the robbers looted cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth Tk 5 lakh from the house and fled the scene.
