Swechchhasebok League leader murdered
A Swechchhasebok League leader was shot and stabbed to death by a gang of criminals in Jessore Sadar upazila Friday night.
Victim Idris Ali, 38, son of Sadar Ali Gazi of Ramnagar village was Swechchhasebok League vice president of Ramnagar union.
Abdul Jalil, officer in-charge (OC) of Jessore Kotwali police station, said the criminals waylaid Idris on his way back home from Bihari Camp Bazaar in the district town around 11:15pm and stabbed him indiscriminately.
They also shot him and blasted a bomb before leaving the place, the OC said.
Hearing his screams, locals rushed to the spot and took him to Jessore Medical College and Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, he added.
The reason behind the attack and killing could not be known immediately.
