Roadblock, vandalism as court rejects bail pleas
At least 25 leaders and activists of Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal and Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) were sent to jail yesterday after a court rejected their fresh bail petitions in a case filed for vandalising a business establishment in the district town.
They include Jashim Uddin, convenor of district Jubo Dal, Nurul Amin Khan and Saber Hossain, president and secretary of district JCD, Abdullah- Al- Noman, organising secretary of Jubo Dal and Shah Zakir hossain, convenor of JCD.
The magistrate ordered to send them to jail rejecting their bail pleas after they appeared before his court. Earlier, they got bail from the High Court in the case.
Following the order, the activists of Jubo Dal and JCD brought out a procession and blocked the Sonapur- Maijdee road for an hour.
Later, they clashed with police when the law enforcers went there to clear the road. During the clash, the protestors vandalised three CNG-run auto-rickshaws.
Police arrested three activists from the spot during the incident.
On April 4, district unit of BNP brought out a procession in the town as a part of its central programme. Some activists vandalised the business establishment of the party leader Abu Naser during the programme.
Later, a case was filed in this connection.
