Five robberies in one night in Birganj of Dinajpur
Five robberies took place in Birganj upazila early Monday.
The robbers took away goods worth Tk 10 lakh cash, 6 tola gold ornaments and a motorbike.
Sources said, a group of 15 to 16 robbers equipped with locally made arms, stormed into Solaiman Ali's husking mill in the town in the early hours. They looted a motorcycle and cash Tk 1.5 lakh from there.
Later, the gang swooped into Tahidul Islam Bakul's business centre and looted Tk 30,000 as cash, breaking a locker.
Another gang entered into the house of Md Abdul Hossain, breaking the ventilator at Gopalpur village at around 3.50am and looted 5 tola gold ornaments.
In Bhaduria village, robbers entered into the house of Md. Abdus Sattar and took away two cell phones, and one tola gold ornaments.
In Muriala village of the upazila, another gang of robbers entered the house of Nabirat Ali and tied up the house owner.
But the robbers fled away after villagers rushed there hearing the news over cell phone.
Contacted, Nurul Islam Shiddiqi, OC of Birganj upazila said they have stepped up vigilance in deferent areas.
