Youth held in connection with Bipul murder
Police on Tuesday night arrested a youth suspecting his involvement in the murder of Hajee Danesh Science and Technology University (HSTU) student Fahim Mahfuz Bipul.
The arrestee is Kamruzzaman Kamu, 22, son of Fazlur Rahman of Karnai village under Dinajpur Sadar upazila. A team of the Detective Branch (DB) of police raided Baserhat area in the upazila and arrested Kamu.
Fahim Mahfuz Bipul 23, a final year veterinary student of the university, was stabbed by a gang led by Mrinal Kumar Goswami, a class four employee of the university, at a tea stall near the campus on Saturday. Bipul succumbed to his injuries at Dinajpur Medical College and Hospital the same day.
On Sunday, HSTU Registrar Dr Boloram Roy filed a murder case with Dinajpur Police station, accusing Mrinal and five others of killing Bipul. Mrinal, prime accused in the case, is still at large.
DB police sources said Kamru talked with Mrinal over cellphone before and after the killing incident.
