Housewife killed for dowry

A housewife was killed allegedly by her husband for dowry at Rainapara village in Belkuchi upazila on Saturday night. The victim is Jahanara Khatun, 25, daughter of Jamal Uddin of the village. Quamrul Islam, sub-inspector of Belkuchi police station, said her husband Matzul Islam used to torture her for dowry. Matzul strangled his wife at night following an altercation over the issue and went into hiding after the incident, said the SI.
