Elephants kill man in Sherpur
A farmer was trampled to death by a herd of wild elephants at Mayaghasi village in Nalitabari upazila early yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Joynal Abedin, 47, of the village.
Locals said the elephants entered the area in search of food at dead of night.
They swooped on the locals and trampled Joynal when the villagers tried to drive them away, said upazila nirbahi officer Md Yusuf Ali.
Joynal died on the spot, the UNO said.
