2 killed, 7 hurt as storm lashes two Bogra upazilas
At least two people were killed and seven others injured as a tornado lashed Sadar and Gabtali upazilas on Sunday night.
The deceased were identified as Jatindra Nath, 50, son of Rameshwar Nath of Pirgacha village in Sadar upazila and Shamsul Haque, 45, son of Rahim Uddin of Nagarkanda village in the same upazila.
Locals said, betel-leaf trader Jatindra Nath and fish trader Shamsul Haque died on the spot when a tree collapsed on them around 7pm.
Seven other people were also injured during the storm that lasted for half an hour.
On information, firefighters from Bogra fire station rescued the injured and sent them to Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital in critical condition.
The storm also damaged over 500 thatched and tin-roofed houses, a number of educational institutions and crops on vast areas of land.
Besides, a large number of trees and electric poles were uprooted during the storm in the two upazilas.
