2 arrested for killing four indigenous labourers

Police arrested two accused in four indigenous people killing case at Chalk Gopal village in Manda upazila of Naogaon district on Friday. The arrestees are Anwar Hossain, 34, son of Mohammad Ali and Delwar Hossain, 38, son of Akkas Sardar of the village, said Abdullahel Baki, officer in-charge of Manda Police Station. On secret information, a team of Manda police with the help of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) raided Tejgaon area in the capital at noon and arrested the duo. They were brought to the police station yesterday, the OC added. On May 4, Ilias Mardi, Madan Mardi, Moharam Marang and Krishna Marandi were killed in a clash between the supporters of two rival land owners at the village. The incident occurred when the victims, who were hired by Abdul Alim, one of the owners, went there for harvesting paddy. Abdul Alim had been in feud with one Anwar Hossain over eight bighas of land. Later, a case was filed against 46 people in connection with the incident, the OC said.
